- Magnolia Place Memory Care is Excellent! My mother has been in several different facilities and nursing homes, but we have found this one to be the best place yet:* The facility is clean* Many of the staff have been there for several years, and they are attentive to the needs of the patients. * It is the best value that we have found for memory care in the area where my parents live * It is an intimate environment that feels more like home than an institution * this facility wasn't designed with memory care as an afterthought. It was specifically designed as a pleasant, functional environment for those with dementia. Everyone who has come to visit my mother has commented about how nice it is, and we couldn't be happier!Reviewer10/05/2018My mother lived at Longwood for over five years. I cannot thank them enough for all they did for us. Very caring staff and family like atmosphere.Edward Freeman11/24/2018

We have been pleased with the caring staff and the nice environment. The menu is appealing. They have been kind and helping him in the many activities. I like knowing that he is happy with the small trips away from the community. We would recommend the care of this community for other families.Reviewer10/02/2018
- Longwood Plantation and its memory care unit Magnolia Place were perfect for my mother when she needed assisted living then additional care as her dementia progressed. The staff treated her like family and provided the kind of assistance and care she needed, and Longwood's location in Orangeburg made it easy for me to visit regularly as well. My mother spent her final years in a safe and loving environment and was very happy there.Catherine Hay9/10/2018Longwood Plantation and its memory care unit Magnolia Place were perfect for my mother when she needed assisted living then additional care as her dementia progressed. - Cheryl Schlins and her mother Clara Boone When I realized that my mom needed a different placement from where she had lived for the previous 5 years, I was very unsure of where that placement would be. I was not very familiar with Memory Care other than it was the next step in her care and it needed to be a safe place for her as her condition progressed. Several people recommended Longwood Plantation's Memory Care Magnolia Place, so I reached out to Marcie Britton,Director of Marketing, to assist with this transition. Marcie provided much needed guidance through the admission and moving processes.
Once Mama was there and had time to adjust to her new surroundings, I was confident that she would be safe and well cared for. Mama took to the staff right away because they were caring and attentive towards her. They helped her get to know them and to get used to their routine.Their experienced staff provides for her needs and makes me aware of any changes that need to be made to her care. She now receives additional speech, occupational and physical therapy services that help maintain her current quality of life.
Mama enjoys the activities that Magnolia Place's staff provide. She also participates and enjoys the visitors from the community that provide music and church services for the residents.
I am very grateful that there is a community in Orangeburg like Magnolia Place, and that my mom lives there.Cheryl Schlins2/01/2024Connie Nix My name is Connie Nix. I have worked at Longwood Plantation for 5 years. When I started my employment, I was a Dietary Aide and because of the support I received from my peers I was promoted to Dietary Manager. Preventing Falls in the Senior Population: An ounce of Prevention . . .
Falls are prevalent, dangerous, and costly. Even falls that do not result in injury can have serious consequences. Psychological trauma and fear-of-falling produce a downward spiral of self-imposed activity reduction which leads to loss of strength, flexibility and mobility, thereby increasing the risk of future falls.
